Is it a good time to get into Neverwinter? (PC)

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 12:03 PM PST

Hello r/Neverwinter, I quit WoW a couple months back and have been looking for a new mmo to play ever since. I played SWTOR for a couple of months, but ultimately that experience just felt like a wow skin with better story and dialogue.

I played Neverwinter on console during mod 15, and was getting through the campaigns, but I don't have consoles anymore and my progress won't transfer over, so I'll be starting from nothing. Do you guys think it's a good time to get into the game?

How do I get rid of this tutorial box from my map? It appears on every map of every zone and I can’t seem to get rid of it and it’s very annoying. My guess is that it appeared during the Direfang 1st hunt in Barovia.

    Haunted

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 07:02 PM PST

Anyone else's Guild Hall haunted? We've got black fog and spooky noises in one hall, and the fog in other halls in the Guild.

Is the companion Meta for DPS changing? also some interesting questions worth testing. [Please read]

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:53 PM PST

Are people now more inclined to use crit severity companions over companions that offer Power? isn't 4% crit severity offering more overall DPS then 4k Power?

Not only that, but if you have power over 150k, wouldn't you be getting more overall DPS by using companions that offer flat % boosts, Like the siege master offering 4% damage to at-wills for example since it would take more then 4k power to give a 4% damage boost.

Here are a few potentially worthy companions that seem like they could be really good, but alas as a console player I have no means to test and we all know how cryptic or misleading that companion tool-tips can be...

Grung: On critical hit: Poison target for 50 magnitude damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. My Thoughts: So in other words, a 50% chance to produce 250 magnitude DMG over 10 seconds with no cool down. This would be proccing constantly.

Aranea: On attack you have a 3% chance to have lightning strike your target doing 40% weapon damage. My thoughts: This could be beneficial to toons that attack fast such as TR's Duelist Flury, but I'm not sure it would ever outdo some of the other options.

Cockatrice: 10% chance to do 40% weapon damage and root the source of the damage for 6 seconds (3 seconds if target is player) My thoughts: I don't see a cool down on the tool tip. Proc chance is pretty good and has a secondary bonus trait to control smaller ads.

Con Artist: Chance, on critical hit, to deal 20% weapon damage over time to enemies near your target for 10 seconds. My Thoughts: A 50% chance to proc 20% damage over time. It seems like this bonus would up closer to 100% of the time due to how fast we attack to generate criticals in the first place.

Death Slaad: 10% chance to infect your target with a poison that does 40% weapon damage and stacks up to 5 times. After the 5th stack, it explodes into a storm of poison damaging all enemies within a 15' radius My thoughts: This companion just seems too good to be true and had caught my eye a few mods back when it was first released. There has to be a catch as to why it isn't META already?

Manticore: 10% chance, on critical hit, to knock down your target and do 50% physical weapon damage. *My thoughts: Once again seems like a solid choice for fast attacking DPS. Especially if it can proc off ticking damage or encounters.

Renegade Evoker: 10% chance, on critical hit, to do 50% weapon damage as fire to nearby enemies. My Thoughts: Same as Manticore above.

Hunting Hawk: Damage bonus increases as the range increases with a maximum of 10% (only works on at-will powers). My Thoughts: Sounds great but very vague. What is the actual maximum distance? and also would really only benefit Wizards and Warlocks, but could be a potential BiS I would think?

Any PC players wanting to chime in with their experiences with any of these or others that I have not mentioned? I'm guessing there are probably some Asterisks with how a lot of these companions actually function but it's worth having a conversation.

The meta thus far for the most part has been a mixture of Raptor, Deep crow, Ghost, Mercenary, Minstrel, Alpha Compy, Batiri

So guys, what are YOUR thoughts, and how has YOUR companion loadout changed?

    Cleric scores during Dungeons

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:19 PM PST

Started playing NW a couple days ago. Got VIP and have been doing my daily random dungeons. I notice I am always the lowest score, and no one ever needs healing in the two Dungeons I can join. Pretty common?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 02:42 PM PST

    Tool tip reads

Whenever you take damage, your power is increased by 2000 and your deflect is reduced by 2000 for 10 seconds

Has anyone tested this? Is there any internal cool down or maximum number of stacks?

Improvement suggestion I believe might benefit this game more than ANYTHING else

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 02:00 PM PST

Let's face it, alliances are not accomplishing their design goal because the endgame population is dwindling rapidly. On Xbox we have 3 maybe 4 (pretty much 3) really active alliances, 1 of which is only active because of a very strong ally guild. That leaves a massive amount of players out of a huge lfg resource. That is slowly forcing people to leave their friends and old guilds to get to the handful of good guilds solely because of their alliance. I'll be even more blunt, 1 of these alliances has a leader so awful many would quit the game entirely instead of "following" them.

The solution; build a real game wide lfg system asap! Here's a quick outline possibilty.

    1 menu for lfg.

    Players:

You click lfg on the loadout/role you're playing.

You now show up in a list of lfg for example heal DCs.

Check all or the boxes to what you want to run (LOMM etc.)

If you're selected, you get a popup with the leader offering and group info.

Role bonuses exist to encourage people to fill what's needed.

    Leaders:

Open the menu and look for the role they are seeking.

If none are available they can post their group is lfg for a say DC healer.

If available scroll through the list. Pick a person to inspect, 1 click to invite etc.

If there are no leaders, give a role bonus incentive to a leader.

Give a pick up bonus to people waiting in queue longer. I.e. some low item level SW healer is looking for 5 minutes, pick them up for some bonus refinement or rough AD.

Lastly allow people to rate the leaders. Give the leaders some clout for being good leaders.

I think this will solve an insane amount of issues.

It'll keep people in guilds they want to be in.

It will allow good group leaders to become known and appreciated.

It will open up more opportunities to meet people or just run if you dont want to.

    Thoughts?

    How do i Rogue?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:42 AM PST

Ok! I'm not a tricked out DPS and tbh I enjoy rogue the least of all the classes. I'm Really feeling pointless in skirmishes. My dps is outclasses by everyone but a healer and my ranger of a similar stat level appears to cut through trash far quicker.

So how do i Rogue? I've got the lashing blade, assassinate and defy strike skills on and use stealth/lashing when I can. Positioning appears to be key but it's such a contrast to my ranger who can jump in the middle of a crowd and pop the aoe stack and watch the health fall off the mobs! I can't help but think my strategy is missing something not just my stats
