Why is Cryptic in this state?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 01:50 PM PDT

Neverwinter has an outstanding game design and is quite unique compared to other MMOs out there. The acquisition of equipment, the complex group content and nowadays the interesting new zones make it one of the best games of the genre.

But WHY is Cryptic patching more and more bugs INTO the game? How is it possible that a games developer is this good at designing a game but so incredibly bad at making sure it actually works. Why is the quality that bad? Is it a lack money, time, greed? I am really interested in the current state of Cryptic.

Is the game worth it for a new player?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 06:30 PM PDT

So I'm new and want to start playing this game. As the title says, I just don't know if it is worth it yes or no.

Does the game have a reasonable player base and can I get good (gear) without paying with real money?

This could make or break it for me cause I don't want to spend money, I want to feel like I accomplished something by working for it. Not by just showing off with money, that's just not fun for me.

Also, if it's still worth it, are all the DPS classes good, or are there a few which I should definitely not pick when I start. I love playing DPS so knowing what's the better choice could be useful.

    Nearly TOMM ready

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 04:02 PM PDT

So I decided to come back!

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 01:42 PM PDT

Hello all, after making a post seeking opinions on whether or not to return to the game I decided I'm gonna give it a go. My only question now is this, I'm torn between making a barn or a wizard.

I've heard mixed reviews on both, and I keep hearing don't bother with wizard unless you want to be a support. Which i would like to be a dps mainly, with some supportive skills. But are wizards just in a bad spot dps wise or am I being mislead? And how about barbs?

Which do you all think is worth investing more time into?

    Thoughts on improving/replacing scaling

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 06:46 AM PDT

I am not a fan of scaling, to put it lightly. Not a single person I know in game is either. If I spend the time and resources to make my toons into superheros I want to be able to be the superhero I worked so hard to become ... everywhere, not in just very few dungeons.

I did not like the old scaling system nor do I like the current one. As this is a game, and therefore in the world of entertainment, if it's not fun people stop doing it and find something else to spend time & money on ... and the current scaling is not fun for a great many of us.

Rather than whine and jump ship I would first like to try to come up with viable ideas to fix the issue and believe that very good ones would come from the players here that know the game and more importantly what they want the game to be.

    So here's my initial one.

    Public Queue's:

Never scale the players. Instead scale the baddies in the dungeons/skirmishes/trials to match the character levels as well as have the loot rewards scale to the character level to make it worthwhile to run them ... no one like working hard for no pay. Toons level 1-19 can run together, 20-29, 30-39, and so on up to 70-79's together and finally 80's can run together. This way the content is more even with where the toon is at each stage of development without anyone being punished for doing a great job of building their toons up while at the same time discourages high end toons from farming easy dungeons for easy AD since those dungeons would no longer be a walk in the park ... challenging but totally doable and again fun to do. And the leveling players won't have to deal with having a high level guy sprint through the whole dungeon leaving them behind to deal with all the mobs by themselves over and over and over ...

    Private Queue's:

Scale no one and any toon character level can run with any other character level but loot rewards scale to the lowest character leveled toon in that run. This allows for guilds/friends/nice folks who want to help newer/lower leveled folks learn dungeons/content but not have a loophole for high end toons to easily farm low end stuff for easy AD. If everyone is level 80 toons the loot rewards would match so no one would get robbed with crappy rewards and wouldn't mess up any of the private runs guilds/alliances/friends are doing daily already.

Obviously this is intended toward the content where scaling has been applied ... newer high end stuff wouldn't be affected as you already have to be a strong level 80 to get into them. I do not claim this to be a finished idea/game plan either ... just a path to consider that may be better than the one the game is currently on. Still makes leveling players want to improve their toons, which often involves spending real world money, and I feel would help make all the content fun and doable for all the players.

Any/all input is very appreciated and please post your own ideas as good threads/posts here do often make their way to the developers.

Stop With Tales and Journals Recos

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 08:20 AM PDT

I keep reading build guides and recommendations for BiS artifacts and sets. And when people here ask what is the best to use, most recommend using Journals and the Journals set. Here's the problem, can't get them. Can't buy them on the AH, can't get them from and dungeon or skirmish right now or the foreseeable future. Please stop suggesting these.

It's dangling a lovely piece of treasure we can never attain. Suggest something else. What can we use instead of that? Something that is attainable?

What is the most misleading source of iLvl?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 06:00 AM PDT

Of all the ways you can increase your item level, which is the least reflective of character capability? (outside of skill)

Companion powers (everything is 100 even if it's a common companion) Insignias (bonuses appear to be relatively small) Boons Enchantments Weapon enchants Armor enchants Runestones.

Artifacts, bonding runestones and Equipment are more substantial changes to a character.

    Did I miss any sources?

    Edit: bonding runestones are great!
