Bonding Runestones going away! Changes coming to preview server

Since Cryptic has a history of Disasterous changes, what are all the sources for companion upgrade tokens besides dungeons and Zen Market?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 09:18 PM PST

A couple of issues with the new companion changes, dated 18/11/2020

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 09:58 AM PST

I refer to this article about the new companion changes: https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/neverwinter/news/detail/11481153-bonding-runestones-%26-companion-changes

I'll jump right into what I think are the problems --

Firstly: As far as I understand, currently, when we summon a companion, we get the categorical bolster (e.g mythical, creatures, fighters, or beasts). Because the bolster does not currently provide many stats, we have the flexibility to use whatever companions we want without much penalty.

For example, currently we can freely switch between xuna, abyssal chicken, bulette pup without worrying about the bolster. However, after the changes have been implemented, this means that to continue using all 3 companions as situations require, we would need 15 mythical companions to reach 100% bolster for all 3 bolster categories. (invokers, mythical and creatures)

I find this an extremely inflexible implementation and is a step backwards in creating flexible gameplay experience for the players.

My suggestion is for the game to only use the highest value bolster category, regardless of which companion has been summoned so players would only need 5 mythical companions for maximum boost of stats under any scenario.

Secondly: Exchanging existing bonding stones for AD.

We now already have on PC, almost 42 million zen backlog on the zen exchange. Allowing bonding stones to be traded directly for AD would mean a massive influx of AD into the game economy causing hyperinflation of the AD currency. Especially since every single player is using 3x bonding stones right now. If Cryptic allows bonding stones to be directly traded in for so much AD, no amount of AD sink will repair the AD inflation.

Unless what Cryptic is trying to achieve here, is to let the ZAX backlog instantly go to 80 million so players have no choice but to swipe credit card in order to play the game. In that case i have nothing else to say.

So if that is not the case, what i suggest is to simply to let players exchange bonding stones for runestones/enchantment choice pack so they can either use them, or sell them on AH for profit or trade them for something they need.

I hope the game becomes better after the patch, not worse. thanks for reading.

With the changes incoming, upgrade companions now?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 12:03 PM PST

So with saving for bonding stones defunct, should we be concentrating on getting companions upgraded as a priority now?

2.4M in AD plus 4k zen in backlog, might cancel the zen and look at upgrading companions.

    Thoughts?

    Succubus/Incubus debuffs

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 05:51 PM PST

So according to their skill descriptions their aoe inflicts vulnerability in a cone and reduces outgoing damage of targets also, can any real technical players tell me what % these debuffs are? I said YOLO today after the announcements and took one to legendary since they do great damage and the utility on top seems like it would be sweet, bonus being I think they look great and love their animations.

    Level 70 boost

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 04:08 PM PST

So I recently got back into the game, I have a level 54 dragonborn paladin and was curious about the level 70 boost. Is it worth it? Or should I just grind normally as I'm not currently through everything anyways. Also would this unlock the level achievements or would it just skip over that?

Thank you for any help/information you can provide

    Heiron does not exist?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 04:06 PM PST

Hi friends, as I'm new and learning this game it has come to my attention you can get boons from campaigns.

In attempting to do this, I am seeking acolyte Heiron in the graveyard to start "order of the Gauntlet". I simply cannot find him. he seems to not exist in the game. I've gone to the location indicated on this page https://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/Acolyte_Heiron and he seems to be mia.

Is there some special process by which I can start "order of the gauntlet"? The game doesn't seem to provide any assistance of any kind.

    Thanks!

What's going to happen to Dark Enchantments with the new Update?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 01:33 PM PST

There was nothing in the article saying what was going to happen to Darks.... is Cryptic going to give us an opinion to exchange them for something else??

Warlock primary damage stat change since release?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2020 02:07 AM PST

I'm a returning player from several years ago. I last played the module after Elemental Evil. I've tried to find confirmation of this, but it appears that CON is no longer a primary statistic for Warlocks. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought it used to be CON, not INT. I checked out MMOMinds and others and it looks like INT and DEX are the stats of choice.

Did this change? Or did I miss something all along? I could have sworn that when I played before, each class had stats that benefited their damage and were not always the same as other classes.

Any help you can provide is appreciated!
